TATAMI MEMO is a portable notebook that brings together the scent, texture, and craftsmanship of traditional tatami. It offers a uniquely pleasant writing experience through sight, touch, and smell—blending Japanese culture with stationery function. TATAMI MEMO is a portable notebook born from the concept of “Take tatami with you.” It merges traditional Japanese culture with modern stationery functionality, allowing you to feel the comfort of tatami—not beneath your feet as usual, but right at your fingertips. Inspired by this idea, we brought together three elements of refined Japanese craftsmanship: Tatami, Igusa Washi (a rush-infused paper made using Echizen washi techniques), and Mitsuyori-himo (a braided cord created with traditional kumihimo methods). While these traditions may seem formal or distant, they are reinterpreted here into a highly functional and stylish notebook—one you can use every day. TATAMI MEMO transforms your writing time into a serene and meaningful experience, engaging your sight, touch, and smell all at once. The moment you open the cover, the gentle scent of igusa rush grass unfolds—like a forest bath—bringing a natural sense of calm, enhancing focus, and helping ideas and thoughts flow freely. The Igusa Washi used in the notebook offers two distinct writing textures on each side, letting you choose your favorite depending on the pen or mood. The mitsuyori-himo cord, paired with a natural leather clasp, adds a unique aesthetic rooted in traditional technique—elevating your daily routine with a touch of craftsmanship.
